Mason District Arts Council - Community Mural Project

Join the Mason District Arts Council, in cooperation with ArtLords as they create a community mural around the theme “The New Colossus”. The sonnet, “The New Colossus,” written by Emma Lazarus in 1883, is inscribed on a plaque inside the Statue of Liberty. It welcomes immigrants to America with the lines, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Attendees will also be able to complete a ribbon with their response to the prompt “What is my America”. Those ribbons along with others that have been collected during June will be included in the community wishing tree which will be on display for the event.
