About this Event
This substance use disorder training series is free and open to all Marylanders, especially those residing or working in Kent, Dorchester, Garrett, Queen Anne's, Talbot, and St. Mary's counties. The series includes the Overdose Lifeline Series and Regrouping our Response Series.

Learn how toxic stress changes the physiology of early brain development, recognize the connection between substance use and trauma, discuss protective factors, and learn ,how to build resilient, self-healing communities.
February 7th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - Medications for the Treatment
Understand medications for opioid use disorder and how they can improve lives, review how medications can prevent overdose death, and discuss how stigma creates barriers to effective treatment.
March 7th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - Social Determinants of Health
Identify the factors that affect the wellness of the individual and the community and what can be done to improve health outcomes, health equity, support, and anti-stigma.
April 4th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - Stages of Change
Understand the Transtheoretical Model of Change to understand how intentional behavioral changeis implemented and how to support people through the process of change,is implemented concerning which stage the person is in.
May 2nd, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - The Opioid Public Health Crisis
Learn about the three waves of the opioid epidemic, its risk factors and causes, and multifaceted solutions.
June 6th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - Removing the Shame and Stigma of Addiction
Explore the effects that shame and stigma have on addiction and learn new solutions for combatting it.
July 11th, 2025, 9:30 am - 11:00 am - The Brain and Disease of Addiction
Explore how addiction develops and the role that neuroplasticity plays in addiction and recovery.

Understand the advantages of harm reduction and how it can prevent further complications of drug use.

This is Not About Drugs (TINAD) is a class-based, universal program by designed to raise awareness of substance misuse, with a special emphasis on prescription opioids. It is all online and consists of a one-hour discussion and video session.
