Learn to cultivate your own tropical paradise at the Marvelous Mango Master Class - it's time to turn your backyard into a fruity oasis!About this Event
The Mango tree (Mangifera indica) isn’t just a source of delicious, juicy fruit; it’s a piece of living history. Originally from India and Southeast Asia, mangoes have thrived in South Florida for over a century, becoming a staple in both our landscapes and kitchens. Mango trees also provide more than fruit — they offer cooling shade, attract pollinators, and can create a beautiful focal point in any yard. They’re relatively low-maintenance once established, and in our climate, they can produce abundant harvests for decades. The City of Sunrise Utilities Department is hosting this FREE Good and Green Workshop in partnership with the UF IFAS Extension Broward County Master Gardener Volunteer program, where you can learn the basics and improve your confidence in planting and nurturing Mango trees - including a demonstration on mango grafting:
- Learn from one of the top fruit tree experts in our area, Julieta Ross, Master Gardener Volunteer!
- Celebrate our recertification as a Community Wildlife Habitat!
- Hear about other tree programs and upcoming giveaways!
This workshop will be held in the Sunrise Senior Center Multipurpose Room. The workshop is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Registration is required. Cost: FREE
