Following a season of standout performances on major international stages, Mario brings his celebrated project Brazilian Landscapes to Ropetackle.Drawing on years of travel and musical exploration across Brazil, Mario Bakuna showcases the country’s rich musical heritage — from the Northeastern rhythms of Forró, Baião and Xaxado, to the African-influenced Ijexá, the timeless groove of Samba, and the refined sophistication of Bossa Nova.
Based in London and now a leading figure in the UK’s Brazilian jazz scene, Mario blends the warmth and soul of Brazilian swing with contemporary jazz colours. He has performed in over 20 countries, from intimate jazz clubs to festival stages for audiences of up to 150,000.
Joined by Davide Mantovani (bass) and Uccio Gaeta (drums), this is Brazilian music at its most authentic, sophisticated and uplifting.
