About this Event
This event is free and does not require pre-registration. Check in at the Visitor Center when you arrive!
Join us on Saturday, NovembGo on a naturalist-guided hike Sunday January 11th to search for marine mammals such as pacific harbor seals and southern sea otters. This hike will cover roughly 2 miles from 11am-1pm on a mix of paved, dirt, and gravel paths with a few areas of minor to moderate incline. We will search for marine mammals at various viewing points, including spots where our researchers conduct their monthly otter monitoring counts. We will also discuss marine mammal behavior, ecology, and conservation efforts. While we cannot guarantee sightings of any particular species, we highly encourage you to bring binoculars or to check some out from our Visitor Center to increase your chances of seeing animals from greater distances.
We will be meeting in front of the Visitor Center at 1700 Elkhorn Road and will plan to walk about 2 miles on the Oak Marsh Loop. Bring your binoculars or borrow some from us!
