Mare's Nest is adapted in part from postmodern author Don DeLillo's one-act play The Word for Snow. It unfolds in a world without adults, where Moon wanders through unfamiliar landscapes, encountering solitary figures who reveal alternative ways of living. Guided by a sage and her interpreter in a remote mountain hut, she seeks meaning amid uncertainty. The film reflects director Ben Rivers' ongoing fascination with lives lived apart from mainstream society, following Moon's quiet observations as she moves through this enigmatic real towards an open, unknowable future.
Group Chat is a Tucson, Arizona-based improvisational experimental sound duo composed of Jacqueline Arias and Zack Lischer-Katz. Through haunting looped vocalizations and brooding guitar noise, Group Chat draws inspiration from the Sonoran Desert and the impulse to create new communities of listening. At times delicate and dissonant, these intentions surface as slow-moving disruptions, layered surf-psych textures, reverberant tones that drift between density and openness.
