Map the System Information Session and Team Mixer.

Map the System is an Initiative of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship partnering with educational institutions around the world. Students select a social, environmental, economic or health issue they care about in their local community. No experience in Systems Thinking is necessary. All UNC students can get involved! Attend this session if you are interested in: 

• Developing systems level thinking knowledge 

• Formulating ways to visually map a complex system 

• Building research and presentation skills 

• Forging new connections with innovators and changemakers 

• Winning a travel stipend, brought to you by Innovate Carolina 

• Representing UNC Chapel Hill at the University of Oxford in July 2025. 

Map the System is best suited for:

• Those who have an existing passion for or lived experience of a particular social/environmental challenge would like to investigate this problem fully to understand what sort of intervention in the system would be most effective.
• Those that are looking to have a high-impact career and want to understand where their unique skill set can be best applied to effect lasting change.
• Those who have an existing solution, product or business idea in mind, but would like to research the issue area thoroughly to understand what solutions have already been tried and are willing to pivot their idea based on their findings.
• Innovate Carolina can only provide funding awards to current UNC students. Individuals who are not enrolled at UNC may participate on a team but will need to support their own travel if selected to attend the finals.
