Many Paths, One Light - An Introduction to Reiki
Reiki — open to everyone, no experience needed.
About this Event
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that began with Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. Over time, different traditions and styles have developed, each with its own approach to working with energy, healing, and well-being.
Most people are familiar with just one form of Reiki, but there are many ways to practice and experience this work.
During this event, we'll introduce five traditions: Usui Reiki, Ra Sekhi, Kemetic Reiki, Komyo Reiki, and Cosmic Light Reiki. We'll share a little about their origins, what makes each one unique, and how they connect through a shared intention of supporting balance, relaxation, and well-being.
We'll begin with an informal conversation between two practitioners, sharing our experiences, perspectives, and personal journeys with Reiki. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions and learn about approaches you may not have encountered before.
Then we'll move into a shared Reiki experience, where we'll work together to offer participants an opportunity to receive Reiki. You can sit or lie down, remain fully clothed, and choose whether you're comfortable with gentle touch or prefer a hands-off approach.
No previous experience is necessary. Whether you're completely new to Reiki, simply curious, or already a practitioner interested in exploring other traditions, you're welcome.
Our goal is simple: to introduce you to different paths of Reiki, share what we've learned, and give you an opportunity to experience this practice for yourself.
Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and does not replace medical or mental health care.
Traditions Represented:
Usui Reiki — the root system, developed by Mikao Usui in early twentieth-century Japan and the source from which nearly every modern lineage descends.
Ra Sekhi — a Reiki-descended lineage founded by Kajara Nebthet through the Ra Sekhi Arts Temple (Chicago, 2007), weaving Reiki's hands-on and attunement-based structure with Kemetic concepts like Sekhmet and Ma'at, and elements of Queen Afua's Sacred Woman tradition.
Kemetic Practice — Amen's own ongoing study of ancient Egyptian spiritual philosophy and Hermetic principles — Ma'at, the Ka, sacred symbolism, and the broader energetic worldview of Kemet — which shapes how he holds and teaches the Reiki current beyond any single certification.
Komyo Reiki Kai — a Japanese lineage founded by Hyakuten Inamoto, known for its simplicity and its emphasis on the practitioner's own spiritual development.
Cosmic Light™ Reiki — a contemporary channeled lineage founded by Nicky Ames, working with its own set of symbols and practitioner rites alongside traditional Reiki foundations.
