MANODARPA…Reflections of Mind Presented by NATYA BALLET CENTRE Manodarpan, has emerged out of Sharmila Biswas’s intense study of the Natya-Shastra, a performance -manual that describes ‘Natyaveda’ as the moral guide to creating art, and uplifting life. This dance theatre production comprises a series of simple human stories, exploring human strengths and weaknesses and the ever changing landscape of the human mind using certain emotions or bhavas, From Shringar and Hasya, to Raudra and Karuna. From Veerya to Vibhatsya and Bhayanaka, intense and stark, Manodarpan journeys through these emotions communicating to us that life is a series of unending circles that we go through relentlessly – from birth to death to life again. Until a day comes when we review these circles through new eyes and wonder or vismay. While the human eye is always engrossed in the material world, the inner eye constantly seeks the formless, and attributeless – the Centre of our existence. The Centre of all circles The Nirguna, the Antaheen Brahman around which all our thoughts and actions revolve, round and round… continuous… tireless… relentless until the they merge as one.
