Join Chaar Yaar at Kathika Cultural Centre on December 14 and 15, 2024, for a unique musical journey that transcends time and culture. This event will explore Sufi texts, beginning with 12th and 13th-century verses by Baba Farid and Rumi and moving through the mystical poetry of Khwaja Ghulam Farid of the 19th century. The group`s exploration has evolved into creating bridges across continents and centuries, blending the voices of Brecht, Lorca, Tagore, Faiz, Hikmet, Hamzatov, Nagarjun, Shiv Batalvi, Agha Shahid Ali, and more. In a celebration of musical and poetic diversity, Chaar Yaar will perform original translations by Madan Gopal Singh, uniting Eastern and Western influences in unique compositions. Experience the fusion of a Punjabi Baramaah with Simon and Garfunkel’s Scarborough Fair and John Lennon’s Imagine, re-envisioned as Socho Zara, alongside verses from Rumi, Kabir, and Bulle Shah. Enjoy the merging of Iqbal’s Ye Gumbad-e-Mināi with the Beatles’ Because, as Chaar Yaar redefines music’s potential to cross boundaries and connect souls. We bring you this unique experience, within the charming walls of the Kathika haveli, in Old Delhi, promising a treat for all the senses – auditory, visual and of course of the palate, since the performance would be followed by yet another immersive offering of experiencing Old Delhi’s authentic cuisine, which would be served as dinner post the performance.
