Join editors Janani Ambikapathy (Modern Poetry in Translation) and Sohini Basak (Words Without Borders) for a lively conversation on the current UK market for literature in translation, chaired by Supriya Dhaliwal (The Yak Dilemma)
Janani Ambikapathy was born and raised in Chennai. She was awarded her PhD in English from the University of Cambridge. Her recent poetry pamphlet ‘If Not Theirs’ was published by Veer2. Her poems, essays and translations have appeared at the Poetry Foundation, Lana Turner, Circumference Magazine, Firmament, Modernism/modernity and elsewhere. She is the editor of Modern Poetry in Translation.
Sohini Basak is a writer of fiction, poetry, and the in-between. Her first poetry collection We Live in the Newness of Small Differences was awarded the inaugural International Beverly Manuscript Prize and published in the UK in 2018. She serves as the poetry editor at the international journal of literary translation, Words Without Borders. She is currently the Charles Wallace India Trust writing fellow at the University of Kent.
Supriya Kaur Dhaliwal is a writer and literary translator, currently based in Manchester, where she is working towards a practice-based PhD at MMU’s Centre for Place Writing. Her debut collection, The Yak Dilemma, is published by Makina Press.
