AI is trained on the past - and the past was built for men. Join us to explore what that means
for tech today.
About this Event

AI is being built right now – but it's learning from a past that wasn't built for everyone.

Every algorithm, dataset and recommendation is trained on history. But history has a bias problem: decades of data, design and decision-making shaped disproportionately by men, for men. So what happens when the past gets fed into the systems shaping our future?

This is the question Leeds' sharpest tech, data and marketing minds are getting in a room to answer.

Join us for an evening that pulls back the curtain on one of AI's most overlooked risks: the male default. We’ve all heard how seatbelts, PPE and medical trials are built around a male baseline. This event will explore how gender bias is creeping into the data, design, products and decisions that AI is now making on our behalf.

What's on the agenda:

🎤 Keynote from Sienne Viet – a career spent at the top of retail and digital innovation, with leadership roles including CPO at Kingfisher, Digital Director at John Lewis, and Head of Mobile at Morrisons.

📊 Exclusive research reveal – brand new findings on how people really experience gendered bias in AI and technology, presented by Jessie Stuart (Head of Analytics, HyperFinity) and Laura Morris (Head of Brand Research, Trinity McQueen). Does AI feel neutral? Do people feel stereotyped or misunderstood by the tech they use daily? The answers might surprise you.

💬 Panel discussion with five leaders confronting this challenge head-on: Zandra Moore (Founder & CEO, Zygens), Victoria Pickup (Senior Customer Insight Manager, Toolstation), Alex Paver (Customer Planning and Pricing Director, Morrisons), Jo Cowling (People Director, Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate) and Aimee Hole (Head of Commercial Trading, Selco Builders Warehouse).

Don’t miss this. If you work in tech, data, product, marketing or research – this is the conversation that should define the next decade of AI development. The systems being built today will shape our tomorrows.

Spaces are limited – secure yours before they're gone.
