Mamma Mia!" follows Sophie Sheridan as she secretly invites three men to her wedding, hoping to discover which one is her father, set against the vibrant backdrop of a Greek island and the music of ABBA.
The story is set on the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi, where Sophie Sheridan, a spirited young bride-to-be, is preparing to marry her fiancé, Sky. Sophie has a secret: she wants her father to walk her down the aisle, but she does not know who he is. After reading her mother Donna Sheridan’s old diary, Sophie identifies three possible candidates: Sam Carmichael, an Irish-American architect; Bill Anderson, a Swedish travel writer; and Harry Bright, a British banker. Believing she will recognize her father upon meeting him, Sophie secretly invites all three men to the wedding without telling Donna, her mother, who is a former lead singer of the 1970s pop group Donna and the Dynamos and now runs a rustic hotel on the island.
