In a moment when the American flag feels contested—claimed by some, rejected by others, weaponized by many—this exhibition asks a different question. Not "who does the flag belong to?" but "what happens when we all make it?"
Over 40 artists from across the United States have physically remade the American flag through paint, fabric, metal, assemblage, collage, sculpture, and text. Some flags look like they've been through something. Some are pristine and deliberate. Some use words where we expect stripes. Some replace stars with questions.
Each one is handmade. Each one asks: what can this symbol mean when I make it with my own hands? What America am I building?
This isn't about one definition of America. It's about the act of making. The process of deciding. The conversation that happens when forty different artists choose different materials, different colors, different ways to represent the same contested symbol.
Drop in anytime between 2-4pm. No appointment needed.
