About this Event

Join Art & Exhibitions Curator Sarah Cox for an insightful talk and tour that delves deeper into the themes explored in the exhibition Making a Mark: Artworks from the Studio Prints Collection.

Making a Mark examines the printmaking practices of seven artists who created work at Studio Prints, the pioneering printmaking studio established by Dorothea Wight in 1968. Studio Prints was at the forefront of artist printmaking for more than four decades, working with artists including Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, and Celia Paul. The exhibition highlights the long-lasting collaborative relationships between artist and printer that were fostered at Studio Prints, where an emphasis was placed on combining the creative ambitions of the artist with the printer’s technical skill and knowledge.

The event will begin with an illustrated talk in the Victoria Gallery & Museum’s Learning Suite, giving an insight into the exhibition’s development, the history of Studio Prints, the artistic practices of the seven artists featured in Making a Mark. This will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition.
