In this experience you will walk with me in the leisurely neighborhoods of Ballygunge. We will catch the neighborhoods waking up to a new day and we will be in no rush either. We may pass markets and homes of famous persons along the way depending on which bylane we take! We will see art deco houses dotted among older architectural styles and newer homes. Our adda will help us understand why these different styles evolved.
Older Bengali homes are often considered to be grand mansions with courtyards. But have you thought how people a century back adapted to the rising population in the city? Their homes became smaller but they still did live in style!
The walk will offer you the opportunity to explore and admire lesser talked about architectural and cultural legacy of South Calcutta. The walk will also be a visual journaling of the social synergies that exist in the area.
