Portland Press Herald staff writer Ray Routhier sits down with author Richard Ford for a conversation during a live event at One Longfellow Square on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 p.m.Richard Ford is a novelist, storywriter, and an essayist. A long-time resident of East Boothbay, Maine, he is the author of fourteen novels and story collections, which have been translated into thirty-five languages. His novel Independence Day won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1996. His work has also been awarded the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction, the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, as well as many international prizes, including the Prix Femina and the Princess of Asturias Prize in Spain. For a decade he held the Mellon Professorship in the Humanities at Columbia University. He is married to Kristina Ford, and they are in the process of moving back to Maine.
