Maid 2 D.I.Y. Teen Cosplay & Costume Design Academy

Step into the studio and bring your favorite characters to life! Welcome to the Maid 2 D.I.Y. Teen Cosplay & Costume Design Academy, an immersive, hands-on creative series hosted at our permanent home studio located at 701 N Main St in Wake Forest, NC.Designed specifically for creative makers and aspiring costume designers ages 12–17, this comprehensive 4-week program bridges the gap between fan imagination and real-world execution. Over the course of 8 dynamic sessions (Thursdays and Fridays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM), students dive deep into the foundations of costume construction, machine sewing, pattern drafting, and prop-smithing.Choose Your Specialty Track:Students will be able to choose either a Sewing/Costume Track or a Prop Focus Track! A Google Form will be sent to participants within 24 hours of sign up so we can collect their track preference and get their materials ready.What Students Will Experience & Learn:• Machine Sewing & Garment Construction: Master the operation of professional studio sewing machines and sergers, learning proper stitch techniques, hemming, seam finishes, and garment assembly (for the Sewing Track).• Pattern Drafting & Draping: Learn how flat patterns translate into 3D builds by working directly with our exclusive custom studio practice mannequins, giving students a professional-grade platform to pin, alter, and draft their own designs.• Prop-Smithing & Finishing Foundations: Explore the core techniques behind bringing character props, accessories, and design details together safely and cleanly (for the Prop Track).• All-Inclusive Studio Access: Registration covers full access to all professional studio tools, cutting equipment, irons, and practice mannequins during every class session.Program Schedule & Logistics:• Ages: 12–17• Schedule: Twice-weekly sessions on Thursdays and Fridays from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (4-Week Series, 8 total sessions).• Options: Register for the Full 4-Week Series Pass for the complete immersive experience, or grab a Single-Day Drop-In Pass for individual sessions.• Location: Mk Creative Arts Studio, 701 N Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587.Whether your maker is preparing for their very first convention, looking to level up their sewing skills, or eager to dive into professional costume craftsmanship, this academy provides a supportive, structured, and deeply creative environment to build lifelong maker skills.
