Ike Torres is a Northern California-based actor, playwright, producer, screenwriter,

spoken word poet and filmmaker. Ike’s journey began in the cafés, bars and schools in

the world of slam poetry where he discovered his love for live expression. Later, he

began writing, producing and performing solo theatre shows. He had the honor of being

recognized by the California Senate for his contributions in integrating spoken word into

theatre. His poetry recently reached the cosmos as part of the Minerva Moon Archive &

Lunar Codex with the Vagabond Lunar Collection where 128 global poets addressed the

human condition on Earth. Ike studied at the Meisner Technique Studio in San

Francisco completing the formal 2-year training program. After completing his training,

Ike got back to work on stage with his solo show “A Cosmic Ray of Sunshine” as part of

Teatro Espejos 50 th Anniversary season. He recently performed on stage in “A House of

Desires”, “Sanctuary City” and a new live show he is developing FANGS FM. As a

filmmaker, Ike released a compilation of shorts films, “Mindfux” that he created with his

longtime collaborator Antonio Michael Leaks as well as starred in “For Who Can’t Go

Home” and “90 Poem” which was released on IG. Ike recently produced a staged

reading of his play in development “Fangs” where he approaches generational trauma,

fatherhood, and forced sterilization in California’s Sonoma State Hospital, grounding the

work in the genre of horror. As a board member of Teatro Espejo, he has been able to

assist in mentoring the next generation of teatristas. Ike is currently producing the

Teatro Espejo One Act Festival which will run from July 31 st - August 2nd.
