About this Event

Mahjong at Bubbly Side of Life • Guided Mahjong Play

Come mahj with us! Lisa from Blue Tiger Mahj Club will be on hand to help you continue to practice the game and answer all of your American mahjong questions. This session is great for those who need some guidance or those who already know the game and are looking to play (players will be sorted as best we can by ability at the start of the session). Enjoy a glass of bubbly while you get your mahj-on in a relaxed, fun, & friendly atmosphere!

Note that this event is for players who have already taken Beginner Mahjong 101 or those who already know how to play American mahjong

• All mahjong game pieces, accessories, and teaching aids available for use during the event

6:15 - 6:30pm • Player arrival, get your glass of bubbly, find a seat

6:30 - 9pm • Mahjong Play

Players: Please finish up your final game at 9pm or earlier

About Lisa, Blue Tiger Mahj Club Founder & Instructor :

I first entered the world of mahjong while living as an expat in Singapore some 15 years ago. What began as a social outlet quickly became a meaningful cultural experience. Immersed in a community deeply influenced by Chinese culture, I discovered that mahjong was far more than a pastime—it was a bridge to connection, history, and belonging.
After returning to the US, I learned American mahjong with my mom and soon began teaching family and friends. As the game grew in popularity, I combined my passion for mahjong with my love for teaching, formally launching my business in 2024 to grow the mahjong community in the western Chicago suburbs.
As a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in teaching, I draw on my background as a teacher to make mahjong approachable and engaging. I carefully break down complex concepts into simple, step-by-step lessons that help students gain confidence and understanding. I believe anyone can learn and love this game! My mission is to bring people together through mahjong - building friendships and lifelong connections one tile at a time! 🩷🀄️
