Mahjong 101 is a beginner friendly introduction to Mahjong! No experience required - just come ready to learn and have fun! If you are brand new to Mahjong, please attend a learning session before coming to an Open Play Meetup.
What you will learn:
* Brief history of Mahjong and its variations. We play American
Mahjong and use the National Mahjong League Card.
* Tile types and suits (Dots, Bams, Craks, Winds, Dragons,
Flowers)
* How a Mahjong set is arranged and used
* Basic rules and gameplay (including the Charleston)
* How to read a Mahjong card
* Simple strategies to get you playing
Everything will be provided for the lesson. If you want to continuing playing, please attend our Open Play Meetups. You will need to purchase a NMJL card. Information will be shared at the lesson.
