The Maha Festival feels different this year. Change my mind.
It's not the location. They switched that up last year after a 1-year hiatus. The August 8 event is again being staged at Heartland of America Park, downtown next to Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront.
I haven't figured out "the why" in why it feels different. It's Maha. There are a few bands I know, and a few I don't know. Nothing different there.
The 2026 Maha lineup – with Wet Leg, Bright Eyes, Killer Mike, Blondshell, Whitney, David Nance & Mowed Sound and Carver Jones – has multiple contenders, but for this week my ears are right at the top of the bill. I dove head-first into Wet Leg, a band (I learned) is from the Isle of Wight (about 142,000 pop.) in England.
