About this Event
In this beginner-friendly workshop with Audra Furgal, explore the endlessly tactile world of gel plate printing, a print-making technique that does not require a press, where layers of color, texture, and mark-making combine to create one-of-a-kind artwork straight from your hands. Learn how ink behaves on the gelatin surface, how to load and distribute color, and how to pull a clean print. Use found objects, leaves, bubble wrap, lace, and other everyday textures, to build up richly layered prints, and explore masking and resist techniques to block out areas of color and create even more depth to your prints.
By the end of the session, you'll have a generous stack of original prints to take home, a solid understanding of the gelli printing process, and a long list of ideas for what to try next. No experience necessary and all materials provided.
