Meet the Performers
The Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix presents choral music that entertains and adds cultural value to Arizona communities by delivering quality performances and engaging in outreach activities while providing a rewarding experience for members.
Founded in 1929, the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix is Arizona's premier men's chorus and is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2029. Bringing together nearly 100 singers, ages 21 to 82, Orpheus is dedicated to enriching lives through the power of choral music while building community through artistic excellence, fellowship, and service.
This past June, Orpheus represented Arizona on an international concert tour of the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, sharing American choral music with standing-room-only audiences while building cultural connections through performances and musical exchange.
Our 2026–2027 season, The Music of Our Lives, celebrates the songs that become part of who we are—the music that marks life's milestones, preserves our memories, and connects us across generations. The season features Holidays with Orpheus: A Season of Wonder, a beloved holiday tradition filled with timeless carols and festive favorites. In the spring, Songs We Carry With Us explores the music that accompanies us through friendship, love, loss, and life's defining moments, inviting audiences to reflect on the soundtrack of their own lives. The season also features the world premiere of James Mulholland's newly commissioned TTBB arrangement of Hail to Thee, Blithe Spirit, a significant new addition to the male choral repertoire.
Beyond the concert stage, Orpheus invests in the future of choral singing through scholarships for young singers and aspiring choral leaders, its annual Tenor-Bass Festival for middle and high school singers, and collaborations with youth ensembles, including the Phoenix Children's Chorus. The chorus also shares free performances with veterans, seniors, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those living with dementia, believing that music has the power to inspire, heal, and bring people together.
Whether performing in Phoenix or around the world, the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix continues to create meaningful musical experiences that celebrate the enduring power of song and the connections that make us human.

L UNCHTIME THEATER
Lunchtime Theater is a seasonal musical and theater performance program offered to enrich the community of the West Valley. Presented in partnership with the West Valley Arts Council and hosted at the Arts HQ Gallery, it is a unique, diverse, and intimate experience among the visual and performing arts. Surrounded by gallery artwork, Arizona talent from the local jazz groups to the West Valley Symphony's string quartet perform in an afternoon 1-hour show once a month from October-April. Ticket reservations are required in advance, and complementary soft drinks will be provided by the Credit Union West of Surprise, AZ. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch or go out and support one of the many local restaurants in Surprise before or after the concert.
Open seating begins at 11:30am, and each performance runs 12noon-1pm. (623) 584-2626 for more information.
The Arts HQ Gallery is located at 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza, Ste 102, in Surprise, AZ just north of the Surprise City Hall. Free parking on either side of the one-story building. The entrance is on the west side. Additional parking in the adjacent City Court parking lot.
