About this Event
Captain Darwin's modern scientific voyage retraces the journey of Charles Darwin aboard HMS Beagle, revisiting the coastlines, islands and ecosystems that helped shape Darwin’s early ideas about the natural world.
This talk will explore how the environments Darwin once observed have changed over the past two centuries, what today’s researchers are discovering, and why voyages of scientific comparison are vital in an era of rapid climate and ecological change. The Captain Darwin team will share stories from their expedition, insights from their fieldwork and a behind-the-scenes look at how they bring history, science and adventure together.
There may also be an opportunity after the talk to tour the ship, offering a rare chance to see the expedition vessel up close and meet the crew.
Our Lunchtime Talks series is supported by Arts Tasmania.
