About this Event
Join us for an intriguing lunchtime presentation exploring the life and legacy of Ötzi the Iceman, Europe’s oldest known natural human mummy. Discovered in the Ötztal Alps in 1991, Ötzi’s exceptionally preserved body and belongings have transformed our understanding of Copper Age life.
In this illustrated talk, historian Seren Shaw will unpack the story behind the discovery and share the latest insights from archaeological and scientific research, including:
- How Ötzi was discovered and what his condition tells us
- Insights from his tools, clothing and equipment
- What his diet and health reveal about life 5,300 years ago
- How cutting-edge science continues to reshape our picture of the past
