Marius Ackermann investigates the origin and importance of polemic cartoon art as well as the various styles and techniques used by some South African cartoonists. Also included is an illustrated discussion of the work of Derek Bauer, D C Boonzaier, Bob Connolly, T O Honiball, Victor Ivanoff, John Jackson, Fred Mouton and Len Lindeque, whose cartoons regularly featured in the English and Afrikaans press.
