Be part of a special evening at Luminaria as we inaguarte our new Headquarters, a new art gallery space, annouce a summer Artist in Residence, and unveil "Frequency," by Rubio.
This stunning and immersive 112 x 10-foot mural will be unveiled at Luminaria HQ at 207 E. Travis, on Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 8 pm. Get a glimpse of San Antonio's vibrant colors in a mural that channels our emotions into a single unifying frequency.
Rubio will serve as the summer's Luminaria Artist in Residence. Watch him live-paint during regular studio hours from June 30 to September 24, Thursdays & Fridays 4:00pm-8:00pm, Saturdays & Sundays 11:30am to 6:30pm. His art will be available for purchase.
Visitors, tourists, and art collectors can stop by during his studio hours this summer to meet Rubio, watch him paint, and shop from his abstract art collection, including stickers, postcards, posters, giclées, limited-edition linoleums, small- to mid-size original paintings, and acrylic on canvas. Limited edition quantities available while they last.
Rubio is an arts organizer who has taught and coordinated art programs throughout San Antonio. His first painting was of the Virgen de Guadalupe, commissioned by the San Fernando Cathedral in 1989. This is where he discovered his signature curvilinear mark, which he is now known for. His murals can be found throughout the city, including on Nolan Street, San Pedro Creek, at Hemisfair, and at Blue Star Contemporary.
The event is by donation of any amount. Donations over $100 will be considered Mural Sponsors! Donate via any of our links on our LinkTree or cash, credit at the door.
