Join renowned book designer Yolanda Cuomo for an intimate lecture exploring the art and craft of bookmaking — both the how and the why. Drawing on decades of experience shaping iconic photography books, Cuomo walks through her hands-on design process, from typography and image editing to the instinct for sequence and rhythm that turns a stack of pictures into a story. Woven through the technical craft is something more personal: how grief, memory, and love find their way onto the page, and how the discipline of making a book can become a way of processing loss.
Part masterclass, part meditation, this talk offers a rare look inside the mind of one of the field's most celebrated designers.

This event is held in tandem with the 'Artist Books of Loss and Healing’ exhibition, offered through August 2nd at The Church in Staatsburg, a Hudson Valley art space.
Included are photo books, embroidered books, pop-up books, editioned books, unique objects, and works available as reading copies, along with a series of events in addition to this poetry reading.
