Looted Lives and Fragile Pasts: Salvaging Heritage in Northern Mongolia

The Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology invites you to join Dr Bayarsaikhan (Head of the Bronze and Iron Age Department at the Institute of Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences) and Dr Julia Clark (Founding Director of the Mongolian-American NGO NOMAD Science) to explore the the impact of changing climate, casual destruction and organized looting on the archaeology and cultural heritage of Mongolia today.

Learn how careful research, international collaboration and community engagement is helping to rescue individual histories, connect fragmented landscapes of settlement, and enrich our understanding of ancient Mongolia through remarkable stories of preservation and recovery.

The lecture, organized as part of a UKRI-funded workshop will be followed by open questions and a reception in the foyer.
