Program Description:
Cutting boards are the perfect project for people beginning their woodworking journey or wanting or make a special gift for loved ones. Long grain cutting boards display the natural beauty of hardwoods grown and milled right here in Michigan. Plus, they add a lot of character and warmth to anyone's kitchen.
In this class you will learn how to safely use the basic machines found in any wood shop. You'll also learn how to square up wood, proper glueing techniques, clamping techniques, sanding, and finishing. We will cover long term care for your hardwood cutting board.
By the end of class, you will have a beautiful and unique cutting board made by you, and you will be equipped with the skills to do it again.

- Basic machine room safety
- How to properly use the following machines:
- table saw
- router
- thickness planer
- jointer
- band saw
- Proper glue up technique ensuring your cutting board will last for decades
- All about board butter and food safe finishes
- How to clean and care for your cutting board
