About this Event

Please note: Booking is Essential

This illustrated talk by Pete Smith follows the story of a Thames-side fishing village that launched a thousand ships – well, a lot, anyway. For four centuries, Deptford, which takes its name from a deep ford across the Thames, was a thriving Royal dockyard, equipping such famous commanders as Raleigh, Drake and Nelson, and introducing Russia’s Peter the Great to the mysteries of shipbuilding. Nowadays…but why not come along and find out?

In-person: For access to the event, please use the Aldermanbury entrance to Guildhall Library/The London Centre.

Online via YouTube: Event link to be sent to attendees 24 hours prior to the talk.
