SUMMER SCHOOL & PICNIC DAY - 'ZILLS SKILLS & SERPENTINE DRILLS'
Come and hone your skills this summer as we explore two specialist topics within fusion bellydance. Then picnic time after for anyone that wishes to join!
Sun 26th July @ Spirelight Studios in Islington
2.00-3.30pm: SERPENTINE DRILLS
Let's drill, drill, drill with the goal of serpentine fluidity. Expect a thorough technique tuneup for waves and oo-ey gooey goodness, with particular attention to the little details that transform your dance to the next level. Learn how to approach combining these movements for yourselves with clean transitions into slinky sequences to create something utterly enchanting. Expect lots of ever-flowing pathways, captivating lines and undulations galore as we embody all things serpentine!
3.30-5pm: ZILLS SKILLS
Let’s play our own instrument while we dance, exploring various techniques and patterns. Finger cymbals are a powerhouse of a prop that will deeply develop your relationship with the music. Options will be provided for all levels and material will be applicable to bellydancers of all styles with an emphasis on old school vocabulary with heavy hips, strong posture and clean arm pathways. We'll build up to some fun new zills combos to take away inspired by the old school fusion styles of John Compton and Rachel Brice's Datura in particular.
5:30pm onwards: PICNIC SOCIAL
We will go to nearby Finsbury Park to share some drinks and nibbles together, grabbing supplies along the way. Raining? No worries, we'll go to a nearby pub instead.
