Unleash your creativity and learn the art of watercolor painting in our “Local Color” watercolor class. Whether you're a beginner or want to further develop your skills, this class offers a wide range of tips and techniques. Explore different subject matters and let your imagination soar as you immerse yourself in the world of watercolor.
Local Color Class is an inspiration watercolor lesson that brings out your creative side. Most students are pleasantly surprised by the art work they produce. Gerilyn includes instructions, demonstration of several helpful watercolor techniques and a critique. Bringing out that little kid joy of painting back into your life is what it’s all about.Watch watercolor demonstrations and try your hand as you paint along with Gerilyn! Have fun while you learn to capture the "local color" in watercolors. Get on Gerilyn’s email list and she will bring you up-to-date with the changing themes.

All levels are welcome. Bring your own supplies.
Bring your own watercolor supplies (watercolors, watercolor paper, brushes, paper towels), sketchbook, pencil, reference images.

1. To practice drawing and take notes, students need a mix media drawing notebook along with essential items like water container, pencil, eraser, palette knife, viva paper towels, misting bottle, sea sponge, liquid masking fluid, and resource photos.
2. For watercolor painting, students should have brushes like sable, squirrel, synthetic, or a mix of these materials in round sizes #12, 8, 6, and 4, as well as a rigger or liner brush with thin, long hair #3, a few flat brushes in sizes 3/4 inch, 1", and 2", and mop brushes made with squirrel hair.
3. Recommended sources for art supplies include Cheap Joes, Dickblick.com, JerrysArtarama.com, and Amazon.
It is advised to use 100% cotton watercolor paper like Arches 140 LB. white, Winsor Newton 140lb. paper, Kilimanjaro watercolor paper, Fabriano watercolor paper, Saunders Waterford watercolor paper, or Traditional by Hahnemuhle.
4. Good brands for watercolor paints to consider are Winsor Newton, Holbein, DaVinci, MaimeriBlu, Graham, Daniel Smith, Schmincke, Grumbacher, and Sennelier.
