*One ticker per family. Fruit and water will be provided.

*Please pay attention to the posted "No Parking" signs in key areas of the Harmon parking lot. If there are no more spaces available in the lot, there is overflow parking on the east side of Kimball Road. Please do not park in the Church parking lot.

*Meet at the located at the main trailhead. Ventura Lant Trust educators and Latino Outdoors volunteers will be present to greet you!

NOTE: Rattlesnakes are present at the preserve. We will discuss rattlesnake safety before the start of the event.

Join us for an easy and short (less than 2 mi) guided hike with VLT bilingual educators at Harmon Canyon Preserve. We will also have a scavenger hunt rooted in outdoor play and curiosity for children and their families.

The preserve features wide dirt roads and narrower single-track trails that wind through gentle to moderately steep hills and canyons. The ground is typically dry, dusty, and packed soil, with occasional loose gravel sections and uneven footing. You’ll encounter gradual inclines along the main canyon road and steeper climbs on side trails and ridgelines, offering elevation gain and open views.

Vegetation is mostly coastal sage scrub and oak woodland, so shade can be limited—especially higher up—while lower areas may include seasonal stream crossings and softer terrain near riparian zones.

Overall, expect a dry, open, sun-exposed landscape with rolling elevation and well-defined dirt trails, suitable for hiking, running, and biking but with some moderate climbs depending on your route.
