Join us at the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley for a fun afternoon creating your very own carnivorous plant bog in a pot!
About this Event

Date/Time: Saturday afternoon, Feb. 28th from 1PM - 4PM

Location: UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley (UCBG)

Address: 200 Centennial Dr, Berkeley, CA 94720, United States

Free entry to the garden included with this event!

Create your very own carnivorous plant bog in a pot! The plants will be dormant during the winter time, so they won't look pretty but that's the best time to do some transplanting. We'll first explore the greenhouse/garden to look at a few examples of carnivorous plants led by carnivorous plant expert and UCBG horticulturist, James Fong. Then we'll get into making your very own bog! We'll do a demo and talk about how the plants evolved carnivory due to the nutrient-poor acidic soils they grow in and how to keep your new bog alive.

Schedule (about 3 hrs)

Arrive - eat some yummy tacos

Short tour of greenhouse/garden

Planting session - make your own carnivorous plant bog in a pot!

Feel free to roam the garden more after the event! Please keep in mind that you may need to pay for an extra hour on the parking meter - Latino Outdoors will pay for 3 hrs of parking.

The garden closes at 5PM.
