Join specialists from Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) for a six-month series designed to empower individuals with vision loss through hands-on training and community support. Each month focuses on a different area of independent living, ranging from accessible technology and daily life skills to navigating the emotional and practical adjustments of vision loss. Participants will learn how to use smartphones with built-in accessibility features, organize their personal items effectively, identify money and medications safely, and explore tools like Braille and white cane mobility. Whether you’re newly experiencing vision changes or supporting someone who is, this series offers valuable guidance and resources to foster independence and confidence. Sessions run from 10 AM to 1 PM on the following Thursdays: May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, September 17, and October 15. This session's topic is accessible technology. Presented by Cindy Holden, Independence Training & Rehabilitation Specialist, Western Maryland Division, BISM.
