An evening with Alan is a journey to a timeless place of stunning musicality, comforting humour, and companionship—a welcome escape from life’s trials and tribulations, if only for a little while.

Affectionately nicknamed “Honorary Crackpot” by the late, great Humphrey Lyttelton, Alan’s musical legacy is nothing short of legendary. With over 25 British Jazz Awards to his name, he is admired and respected by today’s jazz greats and has performed and recorded alongside household names like Björk, Bryan Ferry, Michel Legrand, Clare Teal, Westlife, and Jools Holland.

Despite his status as a masterful multi-instrumentalist, Alan remains one of the most down-to-earth and engaging musicians you’ll ever meet. Perhaps it’s his strong Northern roots, or perhaps it’s because when you’re as naturally gifted as Alan, ego becomes unnecessary—you simply play.

Whatever the secret to his charm, Alan’s performances radiate warmth and joy, and we hope you’ll join us for an evening of incredible music, camaraderie, and fun.

Our loyal band of regulars are the lifeblood of the Twickenham Jazz Club and we aim to reward them by continuing to bring together the best “home-grown” and International jazz talent around.

Our varied program offers distinctive concerts across the Jazz Spectrum, from the harmonious intimacy of ‘The Vocal Session’ to the magnificence of ‘The Big Band Sound’ with many excellent smaller ensembles featured too.
