About this Event
The Word’s LITERARY FUTURES is a free, 3-session cohort program that includes writing sessions, insights , and workshopping with fellow writers to find community connection and connection to their individual voices. This program is perfect for writers looking to build confidence, knowledge, and community.
SESSION ONE: CONNECTING TO YOUR VOICE
- Introduction to The Word and writing resources
- Talk from a local author on the process of finding and connecting with one’s writing journey
- Prompted writing session
SESSION TWO - PUBLISHING GOALS (VIRTUAL)
- Introduction to publishing talk with an experienced agent
- Discussion led by The Word on generating questions or a pitch to present to agent
- 5 to 10-minute sessions with agent, 1-1 with individual participants, and concurrent writing sessions
SESSION THREE - CONNECTING TO COMMUNITY
- Talk from a local author describing their writing and publishing journey
- Recap and takeaways
- Open mic with participants reading from the items created during the first two sessions
- Community gathering and meet with fellow writers. This session will be open to a wider of community who participate in The Word’s various community meet-ups to ensure that participants in the program meet a wider array of local writers
