After last year’s blistering success, Newcastle band Parastatic are bringing back their music festival Liminal Sound for a one-day edition on November 28th at the Star & Shadow.
The festival that celebrates ‘music from the edges’ is bringing 7 artists from across the North for a day of spell-binding and subversive performances across two stages - no clashes - and a pop-up record store from local heroes RPM Music.
Self Immolation Music // Parastatic & Late Girl // Señor Pink // Dextro // Spacecadetbloom // Nadine Hurley // Catastrophic Need
Parastatic return to the stage continuing their collaboration with Late Girl to deliver their trademark motorik shoegaze and intense Sprechgesang.
Leeds band Self Immolation Music bring their psychedelic wall of sound with trance-inducing riffs, fuzz and feedback. Counting Spacemen 3, Loop and the Velvets as touchstones for their sound they create a ritualistic mantra of distortion.
Also from Leeds the wonderfully strange and intense Señor Pink tell their genuinely unique tales from the underbelly of the North accompanied by their prog-noise-jazz instrumentation. Expect captivating storytelling, experimental sonic textures and intentional chaos.
Ambient genius Dextro creates mesmeric soundscapes using synths, field recordings, guitar and live drums. With accompanying visuals Dextro’s set takes the audience on an immersive journey that veers dramatically from meditative calm to furious intensity.
We’re determined to spotlight emerging artists from the region and this year's line-up features some of the North East's most exciting new talent.
Spacecadetbloom are a shoegaze band that have been making waves and caught the eye of BBC Introducing, performing at the Glasshouse under their banner.
One of our favourite local acts, who have recently branched out to national stages, Nadine Hurley always offer a chaotic and energetic show matching fierce and fast electronic noise to singer Alex’s dramatic performance.
Returning from his stint at the front of Marginal Gains last year is the now DIY solo artist Catastrophic Need who creates apocalyptic beats and biting social commentary under his new moniker.
From established underground favourites to the region's next generation of boundary-pushing artists, Liminal Sound brings together an exceptional breadth of talent in one venue for a celebration of music that exists well beyond the mainstream.
