A full day of swing dancing and live jazz in one of Spokane's most storied ballrooms, a room built in the very era these dances were born.
Lilac City Stomp brings together instruction, performance, and community for one day only. The majority of the day is free and open to the public. Whether you have never tried swing dancing or you have been on the floor for years, there is something here for you. Beginners are especially welcome.
FREE MORNING DANCE WORKSHOPS | 10:00am to 1:00pm
Three 50-minute workshops for beginning and intermediate dancers covering Lindy Hop, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, and Balboa. Led by Woodside Swing instructors alongside guest instructor Undre Reed. No experience necessary. No partner required. All are welcome.
FREE AFTERNOON MATINEE | 2:00pm to 3:30pm
A free 90-minute live performance featuring Zonky Jazz Band under the direction of visiting bandleaders Lauryn Gould and Jonathan Doyle, featuring a showcase by Woodside Swing’s advanced dancers and open dancing for everyone in attendance.
FREE DROP-IN DANCE SESSION | 4:30pm to 6:30pm
DJ’d music and open dancing. Instructors on hand — including Undre Reed — for individualized guidance and drop-in instruction. Practice what you’ve learned, ask questions, or just enjoy the floor. All levels welcome.
EVENING SHOWCASE (Ticketed)
An evening of live music featuring nationally recognized guest artists Lauryn Gould and Jonathan Doyle with the Zonky Jazz Band. Tickets: hotclubofspokane.org/lilac-city-stomp
Presented by The Hot Club of Spokane and Woodside Swing Spokane, bringing nationally recognized guest artists together with local musicians and instructors for a day of performance, mentorship, and community.
