SLL Technical event presented by Sophie Parry, Fellow of the Society of Light and Lighting
About this Event

Approximately 1 person in 7 in the UK identifies as neurodiverse- it’s a term encompassing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, synaesthesia, Tourette’s syndrome and variable attention stimulus trait. Not all neurodivergent people have a formal diagnosis, and as a result, many undiagnosed neurodivergent people find it difficult to understand or explain why they feel uncomfortable in a space.
Lighting characteristics such as colour temperature, glare, flicker and stroboscopic effects have an impact on everyone, particularly on neurodivergent people, so it’s essential that we design lighting to accommodate the widest possible range of needs.
Sophie Parry CEng MIET FSLL is Head of Trilux UK Akademie and author of SLL Factfile 19 Lighting for Neurodiversity and will be delivering a technical presentation on the subject at Ulster University at 6pm on Thursday 14th May. This promises to be an exceptional presentation on a very important subject.
The venue is Room BC-05-302, Ulster University, York Street Belfast BT15 1ED, and refreshments will be available from 5:30pm. There will be an opportunity to network after Sophie’s talk.
