LIGHT ASYLUM je techno-punk projekat pevačice, producentkinje i performans umetnice Shannon Funchess, nastao 2007. godine u Bruklinu.
Prepoznatljiv po spoju detroitskog tehna, EBM-a, gothic rocka, new beata, housea i synth-popa, LIGHT ASYLUM je jedno od ključnih imena savremenog darkwave preporoda. Projekat je stekao reputaciju zahvaljujući intenzivnim nastupima i jedinstvenom vokalu Shannon Funchess, čiji je moćan i prepoznatljiv glas postao jedno od glavnih obeležja LIGHT ASYLUM-a.
Kultni singl „Dark Allies“ iz 2011. godine i danas je nezaobilazna himna darkwave i goth klubova širom sveta, dok je istoimeni album iz 2012. godine učvrstio status LIGHT ASYLUM-a kao jednog od najvažnijih imena savremene darkwave scene.
Tokom karijere, LIGHT ASYLUM je nastupao na prestižnim binama i festivalima poput Radio City Music Hall, KOKO, Sidnejske opere, Wave-Gotik-Treffena i Berghaina.

LIGHT ASYLUM is the internationally revered techno-punk music project of vocalist, producer Shannon Funchess founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2007. Captivating audiences with cathartic performances, LIGHT ASYLUM emerged in 2009 at the forefront of a movement turned full blown revival of late 70’s to 90’s electronic music inspired by pioneers of Detroit techno, Belgian new beat, EBM, gothic rock, Chicago house, new wave and synth pop. Autumn of 2011 would herald a new gothic club anthem “Dark Allies” with Funchess emoting eternal life in her signature contralto singing, “Forever...and ever” on the debut ‘In Tension’ EP (Mexican Summer/Kemado Records). A debut full length S/T LP released the following spring aided in igniting the dark wave genre that coincided with the cold wave revival in NYC’s underground music scene. Funchess carried the torch above ground to iconic venues Radio City Music Hall, Koko, The Sydney Opera House, Moulin Rouge, Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Berghain. 202 will mark the first release of LIGHT ASYLUM since 2012.
