Reconfiguring National Identities amid Multiple Crises
18–20 September 2026 | Belgrade, Serbia
The University of Belgrade – Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, in cooperation with the Association for the Study of Nationalities, is pleased to host the 2026 ASN European Conference.
Returning to Belgrade twenty years after ASN’s first European Conference in the city, the 2026 conference will explore how national identities are being reconfigured amid overlapping political, economic, social, and geopolitical crises. Bringing together more than 160 scholars across 40 panels, roundtables, and book discussions, the program will address themes such as war, migration, democratic backsliding, memory politics, nationalism, citizenship, and geopolitical transformation across Europe, Eurasia, and beyond.
Keynote addresses will be delivered by Ruth Wodak (Lancaster University / University of Vienna) and Siniša Malešević (University College Dublin)
