About this Event
2026 HERITAGE DAYS EVENTS:
SLC BLACK HISTORY BUS TOUR
Our premiere launched bus tour “Lifting as We Climb” celebrates some of Utah’s remarkable Black American women whose leadership, determination, and service helped shape Utah’s history. The tour also highlights influential Salt Lake City builders, historic Black churches, and a significant neighborhood that played a vital role in the Black American Community.
Inspired by the National Association of Colored Women’s motto “Lifting as We Climb”, this tour honors those who advanced Civil Rights, strengthened Utah’s Black American Community, and helped build a more inclusive state while pursuing progress and opportunity for themselves and others.
Throughout the tour you’ll have several opportunities to step off the bus, explore historic sites, ask questions, and discover inspiring people, places, and events that are often overlooked in traditional histories. Whether you are a life-long Utahan or a first-time visitor to the state, you will gain a deeper appreciation for these individuals whose courage and contributions continue to shape our state today.
Our Tour Guides are Utah Tour Guide Certified and Utah Specialist Academy Certified, ensuring an engaging, informative, and memorable experience.
