About this Event
Take part in our life sculpting courses! Offered as monthly 3 week courses, taking place on the first 3 Wednesday evenings of each month from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Your booking includes all three sessions within your chosen month.
Take life drawing into three dimensions in this three week ceramic sculpture course, led by figurative ceramicist Nina.
Across three consecutive Wednesday evenings, you’ll work from the same live nude model holding the same pose, giving you the time to develop one considered figurative sculpture from start to finish. You’ll be able to build, observe, refine and add detail to your sculpture week by week.
No previous sculpting experience is needed. Nina will guide you through the process step by step, from establishing the basic form and proportions through to refining anatomy, surface and those final details that bring your sculpture to life.
Our Life Sculpting sessions are body-positive, relaxed and welcoming, celebrating the human form in all its diversity. The course is designed to be creative & fun rather than intimidating: whether you’re completely new to clay, an artist wanting to try figurative sculpture, or simply looking for something different to do.
Come alone, with a friend or make it a creative date(s). Lots of people attend ClayLife sessions solo, and the small group size makes for a friendly, sociable atmosphere while still giving you plenty of time to focus on your own work.

No experience necessary
Your sculpture will remain safely at the ClayLife studio between sessions, so you can pick up exactly where you left off each week. Once the course is complete, we’ll fire and finish your piece for you and let you know when it’s ready to collect.
THE STUDIO
The course takes place at our dedicated hand-building and sculpture studio at Hope Mill, Ancoats, just a 3-minute walk from New Islington tram stop, with free on-site parking for ClayLife guests.
You’re welcome to BYOB and bring snacks to enjoy while you sculpt. We just ask everyone to drink responsibly and help us keep the studio a comfortable, respectful environment for the group and our model.
Three weeks. One pose. One sculpture completely made by you. We can’t wait to see your wonderful creations.
