Life drawing with 1838 Collective
About this Event
Candlelight Life Drawing . 1838 collective Halloween Special 🕯️🎃
Join us for a special Halloween edition of our life drawing sessions at Islington Mill, with 1838 Collective. This time, by candlelight.
Swap the usual studio lights for flickering candles and a spookier atmosphere, as we settle in for a relaxed evening of sketching. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just want to have fun with a pencil in hand, this is the perfect chance to slow down, practice your skills, and enjoy drawing in a different kind of light.
We’ll provide guidance throughout the session, which you’re welcome to follow, or just listen to what your instinct is telling you.
Feel free to lean into the theme. Fancy dress is welcome (though not required) if you want to bring some Halloween spirit to your sketchbook.
Basic materials, coffee and biscuits are included.
The facilities are fully wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet on the same floor.
New to 1838 Collective? Come along and make new connections. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you feel unsure or would like a buddy for the session.
Drop us a message on Instagram @1838_collective if you have any questions, or email [email protected]. Follow our newsletter if you don't want to miss any of our events and opportunities! 1838 Collective is an artist-led non-profit organisation based in Salford that supports emerging artists transitioning from education into sustainable professional practice. Founded by graduates of Manchester School of Art, the collective was created in response to the barriers many artists face after graduation, including isolation, lack of networks, limited access to affordable studio spaces, and gaps in professional skills development.
Through free and low-cost workshops, exhibitions, socials, mentoring, and opportunities, 1838 Collective creates inclusive spaces where artists can build confidence, develop practical career skills, and connect with other artists. The organisation is committed to accessibility, diversity, and community care.
Since launching in 2026, 1838 Collective has delivered weekly events, supported over 150 artists, curated exhibitions across Manchester and internationally, and built a growing creative community both online and in person.
