Libraries as Advocates: Making Your Voice Heard on Access to Justice in TX
About this Event
Tuesday, November 17 // 4-6pm // Austin Public Library
Librarians see firsthand what happens when Texans struggle to find affordable legal help. How can your experiences help shape a more accessible justice system?
Join Counsel Unbound for an interactive workshop exploring Texas's access-to-justice crisis, proposed reforms to expand affordable legal help, and the important role librarians can play in advocating for change.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
• Learn: Explore the legal help gap in Texas and how the Texas Supreme Court can address it.
• Share: Discuss the legal challenges you encounter in your communities and share experiences that could help inform reform efforts.
• Advocate: Learn how to make your voices heard by policymakers and practice drafting a letter in support of reform.
Whether you're new to advocacy or already passionate about access to justice, this workshop will provide tools and opportunities to help turn your experiences into meaningful action.
Free and open to librarians and library professionals. Food and drinks will be provided. No advocacy experience necessary!
Counsel Unbound is an initiative by The Institute for Justice, a non-profit, civil liberties law firm dedicated to increasing access to justice nationwide.
