2 day 'Liberty and Groundskills' course, including lunch both days, + o/n camping facilities for horses and humans available Fri/Sat/Sun. Learn how to advance your groundskills to include going 'offline' and safely interacting with your horse at liberty, how to advance from the round pen to larger areas and including obstacles...
This course is open to anyone who has a basic level of operation on halter and lead (no dangerous problems) but who wants to learn more about how to progress from 'lead and feed' to introducing more interesting and communicative tasks on the ground, as well as how to 'connect the dots' from the ground to more challenging requests including float loading & ridden tasks.
It is also valuable for anyone who is not new to the 'art' of liberty, but who wants to advance their current practise.
Equipment needed: 12' rope and rope halter. Stick with string.
Optional equipment: 22' rope (same thickness as 12' rope)
22' and/or 45' lariat ropes, stick with flag. Treats & pouches (yes we will teach you about appropriate and effective use of treats for motivation)
Liberty has been one of the 4 areas of learning we have been teaching for over 25 years. It used to be considered 'weird' when we first started learning and then teaching it, but is now so commonly demonstrated, talked about and taught it is not considered a new thing at all! (which is great!)
Learn how to integrate 'liberty training' into your warm up for riding, or for advancing your 'in hand work'...
This is not 'trick training' - although if teaching your horse cool 'tricks' floats your boat, you will quickly see where our program can enhance your desire to include 'tricks' for fun or for performance if that's what you are into. Our approach helps you learn true communication, meaning your horse takes it's cues from you, learns to 'offer' ideas, and doesn't 'take over' turning those 'tricks' back on you.
