OBJECTIVE: Because LGBTQ people in the Berkhires are experiencing big changes in climate (flooding, extreme weather power failures, road closures due to increasing extreme weather), local economics (rapidly escalating housing prices & rents and plunging availability of affordable housing), and demographics (the LGBTQ community is rapidly expanding in the number of people over 60, while rapidly dropping in all other age demographics), it is vital the LGBTQ community begin to study how we can individually and as a community become more resilient in the face of these rapidly evolving risks.
As individuals and a community we need to prioritize the amount of time and money we focus on becoming more resilient, especially in response to the most dangerous and imminent threats. One important way we can do this is to to study what the most imminent threats and opportunities are arising locally and the practical ways we might respond to them as individuals, as a team, and in our communities.
CARPOOLING/RIDE-SHARE: If you need a ride or are open to carpooling, please indicate that when you are registering, & our ride coordinator will try to match you with people nearby who are interested in carpooling or offering rides. We encourage carpooling because it is a great way to make new friends, save money on gas, reduce your carbon footprint, and have a designated driver should you want to drink and not drive.
